The Best Pokemon Tower Defense Game you can get Online!
Pros story,soundtrack.
Cons feels incomplete
Pokemon is a pretty loveable idea. That said, Pokemon Tower Defense? This game’s certainly different from what you might expect from the title. You won’t exactly be slinging out Charizard’s Flamethrower or Squirtle’s Water Gun. Instead, the game revolves around a simple concept.
You have Pokemon, that you place in designated slots around the map. Evil pokemon stream down to steal and carry back pokemon candy. You move your pokemon around these slots as it flings itself repeatedly to strike the aggressors…
It’s a decent concept, but the execution here is sadly lacking. The art style is a bit jarring - gradients mixed with pixelated Gameboy-style sprites. The actual animations in the tower defense gameplay are almost nonexistent, and the whole “gotta-catch-em -all” gameplay of Pokemon doesn’t layer very well into this game. While there IS promise, it’s just not tapped very well. And annoyingly, there’s a login/signup system - you have to give your email before you play. Annoying.
The best part is the story, which is told via cutscenes that take you back to the likes of Pokemon LeafGreen and might genuinely make a Pokemaniac smile. They feel a bit like a rushed Flash rendering based on the standard Pokemon intro. As usual, there’s an evil team wreaking havoc - although the text isn’t presented like the original Gameboy games, it feels like more attention was given to the cutscenes than the actual gameplay.
The overall impression is of…a game haphazardly thrown together. However, it's totally worth playing only if you like pokemon and tower defense games. 7 out of 10.
Rating 4.5 out of 5
