Although students may be in a subordinate(从属的)position, some professors treat them as equals. However, no matter how equal professors would like to be, they still are in a position of authority. Professors may may establish social relationship with students outside of the classroom, but in the classroom they maintain the instructor’s role. A professor may have coffee one day with students but the next day expect them to meet a deadline for the submission(提交评判)of a paper or to be class to a student in need of help but probably will not treat him or her differently when it comes to evaluating school work. CPeople who struggle to learn foreign languages may simply have brains that are not wired to hold linguistic skills, a new study suggests.Learning a second languages is far easier for some adults than others because of their born differences in how the various parts of the brain “wired” to one another. The difference is so striking that researchers can even predict who will succeed in language skills, and who will fail, simply based on brain scans. It is all to do with how well language centers of the brain communicate when resting Most learning occurs when the brain is at rest, which is why sleep is so important.Scientists at McGill University in Canada found that if left anterior operculum(左侧额前回)and the left superior temporal gyrus(左侧颈叶上回)communicate more with each other at rest, then language learning is easier.“These findings have implications for predicting language success and failure,” said study author Dr Xiaoqian Chai. For the study, researchers scanned the brains of 15adult English speakers who were about to begin an intensive 12-week French course, and then tested their language abilities both before and after the course. Participants with stronger connections between the left anterior operculum and an important region of the brain’s language network called the superior temporal gyrus showed greater improvement in the speaking test. However, that doesn’t mean success at a second language is entirely predetermined by the brain’s learn better.”Dr Arturo Hermandez, a ncuroscientist at theUniversity of Houston who studies second-language learning and was not involved in the study, said: “The most interesting part of this finding is that connectivity between the different areas was observed before learning.”“This shows that some individuals may have a particular neuronal activity pattern that may lead itself to better learning of a second language.”29.Why is language easier for some people according to the study?A.They have enough sleep for the brains to have a restB.They are born with more interest in learning languagesC.They have different parts of their brains better connectedD.They struggle harder than others in learning languages 30.What’s the benefit of the study in the long run?A.To study the differences between people’s nrainsB.To find the benefit of second language learningC.To improve people’s second language learningD.To mredict language learning success and failure31.Where would this passage most probably appear?A.A science magazine&&&&&&& B.An experiment reportC.A medicine book&&&&&&&&& D.An advertisementDFacebook has launched a new social media app aimed at school teenagers.Members of Lifestage, currently only available on Apple devices in the US,upload pictures and videos based around feelings, likes and dislikes. These are then turned into video profiles. All posts are public and there are no options to restrict viewing. The idea is to connect members of the same school, its creator said. One expert told the BBC the lack of privacy settings was a concern.School members can view each other’s profiles once the individual school has registered 20 members or more. Users aged more than 21 are only able to view their own profiles, reports the TechCrunch website. However, the app warns that is cannot guarantee whether all its users are genuine. “We can’t confirm that people who claim to go to a certain school actually go to that school. All videos you upload to your profile are fully public content,”it says.Lifestage has no messaging functionality but users can disply contact details from other sites such as Snapchat and instagram.According to statistics website Statista only 8% of Facebook’s US users are aged 13-19. It has been disigned by Facebook product manager Michael Sayman, who is 19 years old.In a Facebook post he wrote that the app was based around the original social network’s early days.“Back in 2004,Facebook was all about “who I am”. I could post my relationship status. I could share what my favorite music was. And it was all about expressing myself,” he said. “Today as Facebook has grown into so much more, we see the opportunity to explore that concept of who I am once again, but for Generation Z in 2016.”32.What’s the purpose of the new app?A.To help teenagers upload pictures and videosB.To connect teenagers of the same schoolC.To protect the teenagers’ privacyD.To explore the new functions of Facebook33.What’s people’s concern with Lifestage?A.There is a lack of privacy settingB.Members can not restrict viewingC.Its users are from the same areaD.All posts are public to the users34.According to the passage we can tell that the users of Lifestage______ A.are aged between 13 and19&&&&&&&&&& B.can contact each other directlyC.can only view their own profiles&&&&&&& D.can post their relationship status35.What’s Michael Sayman’s attitude towards the app?A.Doubtful&&&&&& B.Critical&&&&&& C.Positive&&&&&& D.Cautious&&& 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。(请注意:填涂答题卡时,E=AB,F=AC,G=AD)For years and years people have been saying that the railways are dead. “We can do without railways”,people say as if motorcars and planes have made the railways unnecessary.
