When is the ZoneCard valid?
ZoneCard is valid from Sunday to Saturday and can be renewed from the Thursday preceding the expiry date on your ticket.
If you do not have a current ZoneCard, you can buy one on the Saturday prior to its validity. Please note the ticket will not be valid for use until the following day.
How does the ZoneCard work?
The ZoneCard map shows the area covered. For example, Kilmarnock is in Zone K1 and Ayr is in Zone A1. Simply select the zones you need to travel through – the minimum number of zones you can buy is two – and you can enjoy unlimited travel with participating operators.
If you hold a valid ticket for either G1 or G2, you are also able to travel within the shaded city centre area – see cream shaded area of enlarged map of areas G1 and G2 – and on the Subway system. If you hold a valid ticket for either G1 or G2 and wish to travel in an outer Glasgow zone (G3 to G8) a minimum of three zones is required. If you possess three Glasgow zones, you will have the freedom to travel in all Glasgow zones (G1 to G8).
How do I use my ZoneCard on the Glasgow Subway?
The ZoneCard is easy to use within the Subway. Simply place your ZoneCard against the orange panel on the ticket barrier. To make your ZoneCard ‘Smart’, bring your existing photo ID to any Subway ticket office for validation. Your ZoneCard must be revalidated at a ticket office every time it is renewed.
We cannot give a refund or replacement for a lost or stolen ZoneCard, therefore insurance is recommended. No refunds will be given on weekly tickets. Refunds are only available on unused complete weeks of all other tickets and an administration fee of ?3.00 will be charged. To obtain a refund you should post your ZoneCard, including photo I.D., to the Survey and Data Section, SPT, 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, G2 5JF or deliver your ZoneCard to any SPT travel centre.
