在巴阿之战中，梅西踢得很不开心，他罚丢了一个本可扳平比分的点球。在赛后接受采访时，梅西坦承如果自己踢进这个点球，比赛走势将完全不同。在比赛结束后，跳蚤阴沉着脸走向场边。这时卡卡从背后向梅西跑来，并且用右手摸着梅西的脑袋，他希望能和梅西交换球衣。也许是输球后心情不好，也许是不喜欢被卡卡莫名其妙摸上自己的脑袋，梅西显得情绪有些低沉，他拒绝了卡卡交换球衣的建议。
梅西在卡卡面前耍大牌？事实并非如此。据《奥莱报》透露，梅西其实已经和奥斯卡谈妥，他们会在比赛结束后交换球衣。卡卡此时要和梅西索要球衣，但梅西首先要尊重和奥斯卡的约定。梅西并不是对卡卡耍大牌，而是尊重第一个向他索要球衣的奥斯卡。而在赛后，有照片证明梅西和奥斯卡在替补席确实交换了球衣。但在很多媒体上，梅西又一次被抹黑了，许多媒体认为梅西在耍大牌，尽管跳蚤的本意并不是要漠视甚至羞辱卡卡。这两名球员，本就没什么纠结的矛盾史。10月28日，FIFA将会揭晓金球奖23人候选名单，C罗团队此时正把葡萄牙人捧到“史上最佳运动员”的高度，梅西却因为这次球衣事件而备受抨击，两大热门候选人处境迥然不同。
