Description
This mod displays all Pipboy screens with Color Icons, Animations and most Fonts (see screenshots).
Color World Maps are much better but a Color Pipboy means Black and White screens with heavy contrast. This is painfull for photosensitive people
and unconfortable for all.
This is part of a three Mods Set making the Color Pipboy, well, a Color Pipboy in contrast with the Black&White display we have when using bPipboyDisableFX=1in order to display a Color World Map.
The two other parts are:
- A Realistically Weightless Colored Sorting Mod - Also with Vanilla Weights - Full or Modular.
- Allows to zoom-out fully on the World/Local Maps and deals with the colorof those two screens.
This mod requires . If not, the inventory screen would be without the icons-as-tags (instead ofwords), which coloring greatly helps to alleviate the contrast and to embellish the display in general.
So, the parts to install for sure:
- This mod, Gold Kit for Color Pipboy being the core of this anti-Black&White endevour, it is required.
- should be installed anyway and with whatever Map you use as it provides something usefull
(independently from the coloring of Fonts).
Those two mods do not have requirements for language but the Sorting Mod is for the english version only.
They are all compatible with FO4 v1.3 and up.
INSTALLATION
From here on, know you are relinguishing your freedom! (It is for your own good).
Use NMM or Mod Organizer (if you want to help:
for testers).
NMM keeps track of all installs so you can safely install/uninstall and feel at ease to try anyting and the rest (I refer to Sorting Mods).
Installation of the Pipboy Set of 1+3 Mods:
With the complete Set, you have an as-far-as-one-can-garantie-a-garantie garantie that you'll end up with a working system and the finest Pipboy screens to date.
a) Install . Choose the install in english corresponding to your monitor proportions and choose the module labeled: &I already have xml...&.
If DEF_INV is already installed, it is OK, whatever xml files there are will be replaced by those of A Realistically Weightless Colored Sorting Mod.
After that step the order of installation doesn't matter. The important thing is that whatever install of DEF_INV you choose or had is made.
My mods will replace the DEF_INV&&files they need to run properly.
b) Gold Kit for Color Pipboy is the main of the 3 mods. Itprovides the Color Icons/Animations and Fonts for all the Pipboyscreens.
Install it and replace all the files already present (say &yes to mod& in NMM install message window). Those files should be DEF_INV's.
c)Install . There is comprehensive info on its page but basically, choose the install corresponding
to the resolution of the Color World Map you use and also if it is SWM or any other Map mod.
If it is already installed, simply skip this part.
&&Actually, I made this mod to complement Zoom-out Extended at first.
d) Install A Realistically Weightless Colored Sorting Mod. There are both Weightless and Vanilla Weights installs and both Full or Modular.
If you use a Sorting Mod, uninstall it first. Nothing particular to say here, there is a comprehensive description in ARWCSM's page.
The files necessary for ARWCSM and DEF_INV to work together are included in its install.
As usual, look at the dir structure. If you are not sure, you should use a mod manager, NMM is save apart for the Profiles.
Et voil?! You are good to go Color and leave the Black&White to gogos.

If you keep your Sorting Mod which work well with DEF_INV (only VIS really does) or if you install VIS, BBS or BIS (or another mod but you'll need the 3 xml
files adapted to that mod for DEF_INV) then the icons-as-tags in the inventory should be colored after you installGold Kit for Color Pipboy.
With NMM and MO, you can reinstall a mod with different settings or modules (right clic) without uninstalling it first (very practical).
It is well adapted to try different Sorting Mod (with DEF_INV or not). Easy to do.
DEF_INV supports four Sorting Mods (VIS BBS BIS + a german one) and it is unlikely it will update much (because Neanka ran away from a heavy rain of sollicitations (I think)...Sad!). So I adapted the xml files uses by DEF_INV to my mod.
About the Sorting Mods:
You should read this if you don't install the full Set of 1+3 Mods and want
to keep the Sorting Mod you use or want to know more about the subject:

With a mod manager, it is easy to install/uninstall Sorting Mods. You can try 36 of them without adverse consequence, so feel free to try some.
Although, when trying mods, you should not save (as a general rule) specially
Sorting Mods which don't need to be tested in-game contrary to many
others mods.
A Realistically Weightless Colored Sorting Mod is fully integrated with both the two other mods of the Set but
importantly also with DEF_INF for which an ad hoc Patch is provided to
install over the DEF_INV required install.
Neanka's fine mod allows the display of a variety of icons before the items in the Inventory screens (amongst other things).
A Realistically Weightless... ARWCSM for short is a Sorting Mod with much icon diversification which also integrates a number of sub-category tabs.
For example the Ammo Tab is inside the Weapon screen with the Grenades Tab (no need to clic 3x2 times to go to the Ammo Tab and back in the Weapons Tab!). Food/Drink/Chem also have specific tabs (as in VIS) as well as some sets of wearables. More details on the mod's page and the screenshots here.
Keeping your present Sorting Mod or installing VIS, BBS or BIS is OK in terms of compatibity (VIS is a good Sorting Mod and works alright with this mod and DEF_INV).
- If you already use a Sorting Mod but without DEF_INV, you should install it.

DEF_INV is fully compatible with VIS.
DEF_INV (v1.1 of DEF_UI) is only compatible with BBS v2.3. The 2.56/3.11 version is not fully so, due to changes in some name tags.
The install for BIS should be OK but I never tried it. That mod is particularly outdated though.
- If you already use a Sorting Mod with DEF_INV, it should display the color icons provided by this mod.
- If you don't use DEF_INV nor a Sorting Mod:
Know that without installing DEF_INV, there would be no icons in the
Inventory/Containers/Barter... thus no color for that (obviously)
but the Pipboy'sinterface would still display color Animations, Fonts and interface Icons (not inventory ones).
So it would be playable. But if you can, you should install it/them.
You can't or don't usethem because...
a) ...of language compatibility. This mod is for the english version,
sorry. But I think it is possible to play the english game with the
and thesubtitles in other languages... It should be considered because so many things are for the english version or in english...
b) ...you tried but it was buggy so you forgot about it. Then you could try the full 3 Mods package, it may well burn the incompatibilities away.
c) ...you prefer the Vanilla strict alphabetical sorting. Well then as I
say just above, this mod+Zoom-out Extended should work and display
the colors except for the inventory icons-as-tags not present.
